This role will support the Basingstoke Shop Manager and the wider team and other internal colleagues in providing excellent customer service to the shop’s broad customer base. The shop is open 5 days a week - Tuesday to Saturday, with an annual turnover of over £2m, it provides the local area and beyond with a unique retail opportunity to search out hidden gems from our current range of wines and spirits and our wide selection of genuine bin-end wines. The key to success in the role is working as a team to engage with customers and promote a friendly, welcoming atmosphere within the shop.

Who you will work with

  • Internal: Supply Chain & Logistics, London Shop team, Customer Service, Marketing
  • External: Private customers, Producers

What you will do

  • Actively engaging with our customers to advise on and sell our product range.
  • Ensuring the highest standards for quality and customer service are consistently maintained.
  • Handling transactions and processing payment.
  • Optimising the shop floor retail space and ensuring the look and feel of the shop is maintained properly.
  • Managing stock levels, stock control and the range of products to maintain high levels of availability.
  • Work to help the shop achieve monthly and annual sales and other KPI targets.

Your Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Highly motivated with a natural ability to sell
  • Confidence and ability to impart that knowledge to others
  • Keen interest in wine/spirits and personal drive to further develop knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills (English language, written & spoken)
  • The ability to build positive working relationships and develop trust and respect both internally and externally
  • Previous experience of retail (desirable)
  • Merchandising and understanding of how to maintain store standards (desirable)

Qualifications

  • WSET Level 2 and/or other wine and spirits qualifications is desirable
