Assistant Depot Manager (Sheffield)
We are now seeking an Assistant Depot Manager for our Sheffield branch. You will be responsible for supporting your Depot Manager with all operational and strategic matters at the branch. At the front of house, you will supervise the hire desk staff to ensure that customer enquiries are handled efficiently, enabling maximum conversion into hire and sales transactions. At the back of house, you will oversee the workshop staff to ensure the fast and safe turnaround of equipment.
Leading from the front, you will enable and encourage your team to adhere to the H&S and quality standards that Boels has set. As a driven Assistant Depot Manager, you will keep an eye on the P&L revenues and targets to ensure the depot performs at its peak ability, seeking new and resourceful ways to improve efficiency and productivity. The customer is key – you will focus on retaining existing customers while keeping an eye on competition and new opportunities. Finally, you will assist your Depot Manager with weekly, monthly or quarterly administration required for the Sheffield depot.
Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, 0730hrs to 1700hrs.

Your Profile and Qualifications
- Evidence of a minimum of 3 years plant/tool hire industry experience. ESSENTIAL.
- Experience as an Assistant Depot Manager or Hire Controller within plant/tool hire, seeking promotion. ESSENTIAL.
- Valid proof of right to work in the UK – Boels does not provide relocation, work visas or sponsorship. ESSENTIAL.
- Personal qualities:
- Goal- and results-driven mindset, focusing on enhancing customer experience and maximizing revenue.
- Commercial astuteness with logical and strategic planning ability.
- Organisational skills to maintain depot administration in ship-shape order.
