Horticultural Team Leader
Location: Greenwich, London
Hourly Rate: 13.63 per hour
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: Monday to Thursday 7am-4pm and Friday 7am-3pm (39 hours)
We seek an experienced Gardener Team Leader to maintain the flowers, trees and green spaces of Greenwich Park. The role includes supervising people and the monitoring of plant health, watering and feeding plants, trimming trees and shrubs, fertilising and mowing, weeding and keeping green spaces and walkways clear of debris and litter. You should know how to use and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers and fertilisers, while following health and safety regulations. Ultimately, you will ensure this Royal Park looks healthy and beautiful.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a small team of staff
- Install and maintain seasonal plants
- Mow, trim and fertilise green spaces
- Mulch, edge and weed gardens
- Prune and trim trees and bushes
- Maintain all gardening equipment and machinery, such as mowers, trimmers and leaf blowers
- Monitor and maintain the health of plants
- Deal with pest problems that could damage plants
- Keep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter
Skills:
- NVQ qualifications OR three years industry experience
- Familiarity with landscaping and knowledge of plant life
- Full, manual driving licence
- Knowledge of pests and how to eliminate them
- Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilisers
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations for gardening
- A love of the outdoors and plant life
