The Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Regis College is seeking an Adjunct Professor for the Fall 2025 semester who specializes in Biology. BI108, General Microbiology, is a foundational course for nursing and allied health science students. In this course, the general characteristics of microbes and their relationship to humans are explored, with emphasis on those that are pathogenic to humans and those that are of public health significance. This course also covers antimicrobial methods, and concepts of immunity, diagnosis, and treatment and prevention of infection. The laboratory experience familiarizes the student with microbiological methodology and aseptic technique. Classes begin September 2, 2025; this course section is taught as an in-person course for both lecture and lab at the Weston campus. The person hired is expected to teach both the lecture and the lab. The lecture is held on Tuesdays from 5:30-8:00 pm. The lab is held on Tuesdays from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Essential Functions

  • Teach BI108 at the Weston campus and engage with all responsibilities associated with teaching the section: grading, office hours, student engagement, and academic assessment.

Qualifications Requirements

  • Minimum requirement: An earned MS in Biology, or a similar field. PhDs welcome.
  • Demonstrated evidence of at least three years prior teaching experience (lectures and labs) at the undergraduate level.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom learning environment in keeping with the University's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with academic assessment.
  • Familiarity with the learning management system Moodle is preferred but not required.
