Role and key responsibilities
Reporting to the Finance Compliance Manager as part of a team of 4 this role will work closely with many areas of Finance and the legal teams, including colleagues in our international offices.
The Finance Compliance team is responsible for ensuring compliance of the finance processes with our regulatory obligations as a global law firm, driving Finance regulatory policy, processes, governance and controls with a particular focus on client money and SRA Accounts Rules compliance.
This role will be responsible for:
- Supporting SRA Accounts Rules compliance of Finance processes across all entities and jurisdictions globally
- Becoming a trusted advisor to the legal teams in regard to specific client money processes
- Preparing key reconciliations relating to financial compliance processes on a regular basis, identifying trends and taking ownership to address issues
- Performing detailed reviews of finance-related data to investigate compliance issues and mitigate breaches
- Developing meaningful trackers of progress and providing weekly/monthly reporting to senior management
- Managing appropriate communications with key stakeholders and answering client money queries
- Evaluating and improving processes within this roleâs remit
Skills and experience
- Strong finance compliance or finance operations experience
- An understanding of SRA Accounts Rules or similar client money regulations would be an advantage
- Professional services background and experience working with international offices preferred but not essential
- Must be able to work effectively, build strong relationships and be able to influence and work across complex entities, systems and countries
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail
- Confident and credible in dealing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Pragmatic, robust and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage conflicting timescales and multiple projects
- Organised and efficient with a âright first timeâ approach to quality of work
