Company Overview: Snowfox Discovery is a global natural hydrogen exploration company, with the ambition of accelerating the energy transition by establishing natural hydrogen as a cost competitive, low carbon source of energy. We leverage our unique understanding of hydrogen systems alongside advanced geoscience and data analytics to explore for natural hydrogen. As we expand, we seek a highly skilled Geophysical Applications Specialist to join our world class team.
Job Summary: The Geophysical Application Specialist will play a critical role in providing technical expertise in on-shore geophysical data acquisition, processing, integration, interpretation, and technology application. This role is central to identifying and characterising subsurface formations suitable for natural hydrogen generation, migration and accumulation. The ideal candidate has significant experience in geophysical techniques, including in the acquisition, processing and analysis of seismic data and potential field data, as well as experience of such datasets at the play to prospect scale. Experience in on-shore regional evaluations and prospect maturation is considered a strong advantage. Combined, these geophysical methods when integrated with our existing industry leading capabilities will help to advance our natural hydrogen exploration and field development strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply seismic and non-seismic geophysical techniques to identify and evaluate subsurface formations for hydrogen generation and accumulation.
- Collaborate on the design of passive and active source geophysical surveys (2D/3D seismic, EM, gravity, MT, Acoustic Noise Tomography) for both regional and prospect scale evaluations.
- Perform seismic interpretation, attribute analysis, inversion, and geophysical risk assessment relevant to hydrogen systems.
- Integrate geophysical, geological, and geochemical datasets to support subsurface modelling and exploration decisions.
- Utilize and support advanced interpretation tools (e.g., Petrel, MOVE).
- Prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations to internal teams and partners.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geophysics, Geoscience, or a related Earth Science field.
- Minimum 5 years of geophysical experience in resource exploration (oil & gas, mining, geothermal, CCS, or hydrogen preferred), mining industry experience desirable.
- Expertise and experience across different geophysical and potential field techniques.
- Knowledge of near-surface geophysics, passive seismic, or geoelectrical methods is advantageous.
- Familiarity with subsurface imaging workflows, seismic interpretation, and data integration practices.
- Strong skills in geophysical software and interpretation tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work across multidisciplinary teams in an innovation-driven environment.
- Familiarity with rock physics, petrophysical analysis, or fluid substitution modelling relevant to hydrogen-bearing rocks.
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to work on exploratory projects with limited historical data.
Why Join Us?
- Be at the forefront of natural hydrogen exploration, contributing to the global energy transition.
- Work with a world class, dynamic, innovative team leveraging cutting-edge technologies.
