Engage Talent Partners are working exclusively on behalf of our Aberdeen-based client to source a Senior Buyer. This role reports to the Head of Projects and will lead a small team of Buyers to support the company’s manufacturing and project engineering functions.
Key responsibilities:
- Selects suitable sources, requests bids as necessary, evaluates quotation and makes final supplier selection in accordance with the Materials Buyer.
- Adjust purchase orders to demand changes such as delivery dates and price changes.
- Negotiates pricing, lead times and terms, conditions and recommends best commercial options ensuring budgets are met.
- Capture and report to Materials Buyer any anomalies with any purchase order, budget vs actual costs, lead-times, expediting etc.
- Performs order expediting activities as required.
- Liaises with Planning and Materials Buyer highlighting any issues with achieving requested deliveries.
- Establish and build good working relationships with suppliers.
- Adhere to the Approved Vendor supplier procedure with regards to setting up suppliers on our approved vendor listing.
- Collate and prepare pre-tender documents to be issued to suppliers for specific tenders.
Applicants should have experience in a similar role and have previous exposure to tendering, purchasing processes and setting up suppliers on an approved vendor listing. You will ideally have previous experience as a team lead or the desire to step up to this level. The ideal candidate will also be an effective communicator, have strong IT skills, an ability to organise workload to meet deadlines and comfortable working in a fast-paced purchasing environment.
