RTL Group are recruiting a Site Agent/Project Manager to run a marine civils project in Portsmouth for a leading civil engineering contractor. You’ll be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of marine civil engineering works from mobilisation through to handover. This includes overseeing site operations, subcontractor coordination, and ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site teams on marine civil engineering projects including quay walls, breakwaters, dredging, piling, and jetty construction
- Plan and programme site activities, ensuring efficient resource allocation
- Oversee HSEQ compliance, conducting site audits and promoting a safety-first culture
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour on-site
- Report progress to senior management and client representatives
- Review project designs, method statements, and temporary works requirements
- Manage budgets, procurement, and cost control in line with commercial team
- Maintain excellent client and stakeholder relationships
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager or Project Manager in marine civil engineering
- Strong understanding of marine construction methods and risks (e.g., tides, weather windows, specialist plant)
- SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certification, lifting Ap is beneficial
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on technically challenging projects
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Willingness to work on coastal or port-based sites, with occasional travel/stays away
