The Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC) is a not-for-profit trade body representing plumbing and heating contractors across England and Wales. Celebrating their centenary in 2025, over the past 100 years the association has witnessed many developments and challenges, yet have continuously evolved to reflect the industry's changes and advances in the way plumbing and heating have been incorporated into our homes. Working closely with key organisations such as Government, Local Authorities, Training Bodies and Consumer Organisations APHC ensure that best practice in the industry is promoted and that quality plumbing and heating contractors are fairly represented.

The APHC are recruiting an experienced Certification Manager to work with the Chief Executive Officer to implement the operational duties of APHC membership & certification schemes. Managing a small team, the successful candidate will have accountability for the oversight of the trade association membership schemes and the development and operation of the UKAS approved business accreditation schemes, operating against the agreed quality standards required of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) & Competent Persons Scheme (CPS).

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • An experienced quality assurance professional operating within an aligned sector / industry.
  • Experience in managing certification activities associated with personnel certification or approving small to medium sized business (including micro businesses).
  • Strong technical understanding of ISO 17024 and/or ISO 17065.
  • An awareness of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
  • Experience of working with UKAS in achieving and maintaining certification.
  • Supervisory and management experience.

Salary To £55,000 plus a car allowance. Generous pension and holiday allowance. Life and accident insurance cover.
