This role forms part of a large-scale infrastructure programme supporting Network Rail's £2bn Wales and Western region works. Covering the Western Geotechnical Off-Track and Drainage package, the scope spans from London Paddington to Penzance and focuses on the ongoing maintenance and renewal of key civil engineering assets.
We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer with strong rail experience to join the team in Swindon and oversee the delivery of multiple schemes across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delegate tasks to Site Engineers and supervise their execution
- Ensure Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Check Sheets are completed promptly
- Share knowledge and keep site teams informed of relevant updates
- Develop or approve construction procedures specific to project needs
- Assess and manage plant and resource requirements with the Section Foreman
- Produce and review method statements and risk assessments
- Supervise temporary works activities and ensure compliance
- Conduct site checks, liaise with Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs)
- Prepare and issue Temporary Works Briefs
- Oversee setting out and ensure alignment with design requirements
- Mark up design drawings to reflect as-built conditions
- Coordinate with fellow Senior Engineers to manage site interfaces and avoid conflicts
Requirements:
- Proven experience working in the rail sector (essential)
- Network Rail project experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- SMSTS qualification
- Familiarity with the Western Rail Route (desirable)
