School Staffing is delighted to be recruiting for this prestigious secondary academy in Fareham graded GOOD by Ofsted.

Working hours are from 08:15 until 15:40 on Mondays and 08:15 - 14:40 on Tuesdays to Fridays. Actual Salary - £17,674 - £18,390 (Full-time equivalent salary £24,440 - £25,430). Hours: 30.5 hours per week, 5 days a week, 40 weeks per year.

The Communication/Sign Language Support Worker role

You must have:

  • British Sign Language Level 3
  • Maths & English GCSE pass or equivalent
  • Good clear signing skills
  • Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing individuals
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to relate well to school staff, candidates of all abilities, parents, and carers
  • Organisational and coordination skills, able to work in an organised and methodical way

Duties include:

  • Enabling access to information and education to meet learners' needs
  • Empowering learners through appropriate support strategies to foster development within educational, social, linguistic, and cultural contexts
  • Considering learners' needs within peer group contexts and providing suitable communication strategies to facilitate successful integration
  • Providing access to learning materials using appropriate communication methods tailored to individual needs
