Norman Broadbent is supporting a media publisher with a reputable heritage to search for a Head of Finance. This is a full-time, permanent position based in their Central London office (hybrid working).
Reporting to the COO, the role is responsible for running the entire organisation’s accounting and finance function. The Head of Finance will work with senior management to support the growth of the business, assist in strategic direction and facilitate business planning. The Head of Finance is responsible for the management of all budgets, forecasting, reporting, auditing, and general financial processes. The Head of Finance is also responsible for the line management and development of a small Finance team.
Key Responsibilities:- Management of the accounts department and its people, processes, and procedures.
- Line management for Finance department staff, including directing and controlling output to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and effective including their performance management and goal setting.
- Regularly update Senior Management and Executive Directors on company performance via written and verbal communication.
- Oversee preparation of the company's month-end reports, management accounts, cash flow models, statutory accounts and KPIs ensuring these are presented accurately and on time.
- Take ultimate responsibility for the company cash management policies, including forecasts and cash planning scenarios for board and investor review.
- Managing the company’s liquidity, ensuring that it always has access to cash and sources of credit.
- Develop, prepare, and control the company’s annual operating budgets and forecasts to ensure that all financial targets are met, and financial and statutory regulations complied with.
- Preparation of the quarterly financial board pack (to be signed off by the CEO).
- Prepare and send monthly P&L reports to commercial department heads.
- Planning, management, co-ordination, and implementation of year-end closing processes and procedures.
- Management of all information supplied to the company Auditors & any general HMRC submissions including VAT returns.
- Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification for at least 3 years.
- Previous experience with a media publishing or subscription-based business will be highly beneficial.
- Deep knowledge of all aspects of an audit process, general finance legislation, regulations and HMRC requirements.
- Considerable experience with a variety of Software platforms that serves the needs of the Finance function.
- Proven commercial acumen and strategic business knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade and influence.
- A capable, clear, and concise communicator with the ability to partner with business stakeholders and convey financial information to non-financial people that inspires confidence and trust.
