We are currently working with an award-winning entrepreneurial UK-wide property developer specialising in the regeneration and new build schemes. We deliver high quality residential and commercial assets in partnership with both the public and private sector. The business has witnessed significant growth over the past few years underpinned by the group's ability to raise funding from a variety of sources, carefully selecting development sites that will deliver a high return and work with development partners to create real estate assets. The business has ambitious growth plans and is now seeking a Finance Director with significant development experience to operate at board level and play a leading role in driving the planned growth.
Key Duties:
- Financial and Management Reporting and Control:
- Quickly build credibility with the Board and the executive team.
- Work with newly recruited FC to control, manage and improve performance of the finance function.
- Oversee the production of monthly management and IFRS statutory year end accounts for each of the group companies and SPVs.
- Develop, implement, maintain robust controls, reporting & KPI’s for the business.
- Development and ownership of weekly/monthly MI reporting pack to include:
- Status of pipeline projects
- Live project tracking of cost status vs budget
- Identification of live project risks and opportunities
- Post project evaluation vs profitability and cost objectives
- Development of robust process of allocating expenditure to each project and developing delegated authority approval process
- Leadership on A/P & A/R process and management of Working Capital
- Development and ownership of Cash Flow forecasting fully incorporating current and proposed projects.
- Lead the annual business planning process and monthly forecasting process.
- Play active role at Board level on all strategic and commercial matters.
- Full participation in pre-acquisition investment appraisal including financial critique of project costing’s and profitability. Supporting board approval and commercial negotiation.
- Operationally support post acquisitions projects, providing full project tracking and ensuring the investments meet profitability objectives.
- Present to and network with external providers of capital to help raise investment funds for the business.
- Managing external relationships with third party stakeholders including the Banks, Auditors and Fund Managers.
- Ensure that the financial information/control framework is sufficiently robust and remains so over multiple periods.
- Take ownership over the finance staff, enabling empowerment and aiding them in their development and overall satisfaction.
- Take a leading role in driving process and system improvements and automation across all business functions.
- Provide good corporate governance, ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented, maintained and audited.
- Manage relationships with banks and lenders involved in funding the Company.
- Identify and source future funding requirements.
- Manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt and taxation, as appropriate with external advisors.
- Main point of contact for external stakeholders including banks, auditors and HMRC.
Key competences and skills:
- Hold recognised accountancy qualification with several years post qualification experience.
- Able to demonstrate ability to raise funds and work with external stakeholders.
- Significant experience within property/construction sector is essential.
- Provide a demonstrable track record in delivering excellent control and reporting frameworks.
- Provide a demonstrable track record in supporting the commercial decision-making process ultimately driving profit and cash optimisation.
- Experience of working in a high growth fast paced environment.
