A private, charitable, residential elderly care village/home is looking for a Ward Manager to join the team. You will need to have an NMC Registration/PIN number (RGN or RMN) and have previous experience in a similar role, which includes leadership and team skills with some experience in elderly care. This is a beautiful home set within stunning grounds and a full staffing structure, connected with vast history and VIPs. This post will require the appointed person to instil a culture of continuous improvement through dialogue with Pensioners and their families and colleagues.

SALARY ETC:

  • £59,000 to £62,000 + excellent benefits package such as enhanced holidays, private healthcare, life insurance, staff discounts, free events, training and development, free onsite gym etc.
  • Permanent, full-time, working 42.5 hours a week (including paid lunch breaks)
  • 12-hour shifts, mainly working weekdays, although flexibility to work occasional weekends/nights to see staff on shift.
  • Central SW London
  • Start: ASAP, but willing to wait for the right person.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have full right to work in the UK (unable to provide sponsorship)
  • Hold a valid NMC PIN, either a RGN or RMN
  • Leadership and Management training within the clinical setting
  • Knowledge of needs and rights of older people and an understanding of good care principles and the CQC fundamental standards
  • Genuine interest in, and experience of working with the elderly.
  • Have a breadth and depth of clinical knowledge pertinent to older person's care.
  • To be able to lead and motivate a team.
  • Skilful at readily implementing and maintaining pensioners care plans and risk assessments according to professional guidance.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Care Quality Commission's Fundamental Standards and your role in meeting compliance with these standards.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Take operational responsibility for nursing care during your hours of duty. Demonstrate effective clinical leadership in the execution of these responsibilities. Ensure all allocated plans of care are completed and maintained for Pensioners.
  • Take responsibility for delegating the ordering, receipt, storage, administration and disposal of medication.
  • Support staff nurses and care staff in their shift management and communication with family and friends. Deal effectively with their concerns/complaints liaising with the Matron as appropriate.
  • Monitoring of new admissions including timely assessment and documentation.
  • Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with the Pensioners' personal and financial affairs.
  • Action immediately any concerns regarding staff members suspected of bullying, harassment, drug or alcohol abuse or any other inappropriate or unprofessional behaviour in the care environment.
  • Take an active role in the training plan for all allocated staff and utilise time during duty hours to optimise and improve the standards of care.
  • Assist in the induction and training of new team members and complete quarterly supervisions.
  • Attend all training both on and off site as required whilst also tracking own staff's compliance.
  • To collate appropriate statistical data in accordance with departmental procedure and to produce reports.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and competence in line with the NMC Standards.
  • Actively engage in the duty matron on call rota, and maintain the ward duty rota and comply with the off duty and annual leave policies.
  • Take responsibility for safe staffing by ensuring agency staff, bank staff and overtime are adequately balanced.
