We are working with our nationwide client, during a period of change who seek an experienced interim Employee Relations Specialist for a 6 month fixed term contract. This is a key role supporting the function leading on complex ER cases, providing expert advice to managers and HR colleagues, and shaping policy and approaches. The ideal candidate will have a background within a regulated/unionised environment and be a proven Employee relations specialist. This role is home based (with very occasional travel nationwide), therefore we seek a candidate ideally based in the East or West Midlands region.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Take a lead on all disciplinary and grievance cases, up to complex situations, tribunal & settlement
  • Advising on all aspects of performance and capability, performance planning, absences, appeals and hearings, working closely with senior stakeholders
  • Creating reports and recommendations
  • Union negotiations and managing relationships
  • Coaching, advising and influencing a wide range of stakeholders
  • Design and implement ER strategies that address trends or persistent issues
  • Reporting on HR and ER data, tracking, analysis and action planning
  • Contribute to policy and procedure development
  • Leading or supporting on HR ER related projects, as appropriate

The successful candidate will have a broad range of extensive experience in complex UK Employee relations up to tribunal/settlement, with strong Employment Law knowledge. You will be a strong team player with an approachable and influential style in order to drive success within this ambitious HR function that operates to high standards. The successful candidate will be CIPD qualified and be able to demonstrate business partnering skills including coaching and influencing.
