At STCG, we are seeking a Pastoral Services Coordinator to be responsible for coordinating and enhancing the Study Programme Tutorial provision across the group. The role involves the development of a highly effective, current, engaging and skills based Pastoral Tutorial Curriculum, alongside establishing practices to effectively recognise and remove any barriers to learning. The pastoral service is established on transparency, flexibility, trust, collaboration and the active development of skills to encourage self-advocacy and assertiveness.

You’ll work closely with key staff in Student Services and Curriculum Schools to secure high quality pastoral tutorial provision to support the development of student’s personal skills, resilience and wellbeing, promoting a safe and purposeful learning environment. In addition, you’ll be the nominated Designated Teacher for Looked after Children and previously Looked after Children and a deputy safeguarding lead at Carshalton College.

As our Pastoral Services Coordinator, we’d like you to be educated to Level 6 or above, hold a First Aid qualification (or willing to undergo training) and have recent experience of working with young people aged 14-19 on study programmes. You’ll be able to relate to and motivate young people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse educational experiences - challenging poor behaviour where necessary with a broad knowledge of equality issues and the issues facing young people in post 16 education with the ability to implement equal opportunities.

A solutions provider focused on outcomes, you’ll be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team with demonstrable leadership skills and a high level of computer literacy. The post is predominantly based at Carshalton College, but you may be required to travel to and work from all STCG sites.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 27 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees’ physical and mental health. This leave is all in addition to Bank Holiday entitlement.
