Are you a driven sales professional with a passion for life sciences and a talent for developing new business? We’re proud to be partnering with a leading and innovative provider of life science services to the biotech and biopharma industry. As they continue to expand, they’re looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to lead the charge in identifying and securing new sales opportunities across the UK.

This is a high-impact, new business development role ideal for a proactive and solution salesperson with a proven track record selling to the drug discovery or lab-based service sector. Working remotely, you’ll spend 1-2 days per week on the road, meeting customers and representing a respected and established organisation. You’ll have full ownership of sales for the division and will work closely with the Group Head of Sales and Marketing team to build a strategy and campaign to target the sector.

You’ll play a pivotal role in the growth of a key business division and work directly with the Senior Management Team to shape the commercial offering. Your efforts will have a visible impact—this is a genuine opportunity to make your mark.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive lead generation through proactive outreach: cold calling, networking, attending exhibitions and client visits
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with academic and commercial customers
  • Use CRM tools to track activity, manage the pipeline and grow key accounts
  • Host customer visits at company facilities to showcase services and capabilities
  • Develop tailored proposals and negotiate commercial terms with customers
  • Prepare contracts in line with company procedures
  • Conduct market and competitor research to inform strategy
  • Collaborate with leadership to evolve the service offering and meet market demands
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Degree-qualified in a life science discipline or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven success in scientific sales, particularly in lab-based services or drug discovery
  • Hunter mentality with a preference for New Business Sales (as opposed to Account Management)
  • A strong network within academia, pharma and biotech sectors
  • Experienced in solution/service based sales
  • Comfortable with tender-based sales processes
  • Familiar with assay validation, tissue and cell culture, biobanking, etc.
  • A confident communicator, both written and verbal
  • Highly motivated, ambitious, and proactive in approach
  • Comfortable working independently with strong organisational skills
  • Driven by success and seeking a role where you’ll get well renumerated for achievement
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK (with occasional requirements to stay away from home)
