My client works within the Engineering sector, and they are looking to take on a Senior Design Engineer with leadership responsibilities, on a permanent basis, in the Bristol area.
The Senior Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- Degree qualified or similar in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or Design Engineering
- 10 or more years’ experience working in a similar design position with more recent experience in team management / leadership
- Have excellent proficiency with using CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Design, development and project experience in a similar manufacturing environment
- Have a portfolio to share of previous work
- Hands on engineering skills such as turning and milling would be desirable
- Any previous medical product experience would be advantageous but not essential
- Good knowledge of a range of materials such as injection moulded plastic
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent organisational skills
The Senior Design Engineer role will involve:
- Working within the R&D team – designing and engineering new products
- Being involved through the NPD phase
- Developing a range of products from prototypes through to production
- Meeting budget constraints and deadlines
- Making sure that prototypes are tested
- Creating CAD drawings and the associated BOM’s
- Liaising with customers and suppliers as required
- Leading and assisting more junior Design Engineers in the team too
- Delivering a range of projects
