Founded in 1918, the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) is the largest democratic voluntary organisation representing farmers and growers in Northern Ireland. Its central objective is to promote their interests both at home and abroad through professional lobbying. Today, the UFU has over 12,000 members.

The Ulster Farmers Union is seeking a talented Communications and Social Media Executive to lead our digital presence and amplify our voice across the farming community. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how we connect with members, stakeholders, and the public through innovative content and strategic campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead our social media strategy across Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube—creating engaging content, growing our audience, and analysing performance.
  • Produce compelling multimedia (videos, infographics, blogs) to showcase our work, events (e.g., Balmoral Show), and member services.
  • Build relationships with journalists, influencers, and farming organisations to extend our reach.
  • Support internal communications and train colleagues on best practices.
  • Monitor trends and ensure all content aligns with our brand and sector priorities.
What we’re looking for:
  • A third-level qualification in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing social media, creating content, and using analytics tools (e.g., Meta Insights, Hootsuite).
  • Exceptional writing skills and proficiency with Canva, CMS (e.g., WordPress), and ideally video editing.
  • Passion for agriculture/rural issues (desirable but not essential).
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally and work outside standard hours for campaigns.
