RTL Group are working with a respected civil engineering contractor delivering a wide range of infrastructure projects and are looking to appoint a Planning Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis in Folkestone. This is an excellent opportunity for a site-based professional (Site Engineer, Sub Agent, or Site Agent) looking to transition or progress within planning.
The Role: You will play a key role in developing, updating, and monitoring project programmes using Primavera P6 or similar software, working closely with delivery teams to ensure realistic planning and progress reporting across live civils projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed construction programmes using P6 or similar
- Liaise with project managers and site teams to gather updates and adjust programmes accordingly
- Assist in short-term planning, lookaheads and sequencing
- Analyse programme delays, critical path, and provide recovery plans
- Integrate subcontractor schedules and ensure alignment with the master programme
- Produce reports for clients, senior management, and commercial teams
- Support tender planning if required
Requirements:
- Strong background in site-based civil engineering roles (Site Engineer, Sub Agent, or Site Agent essential)
- Experience on civils projects such as earthworks, highways, drainage, or structures
- Proficient in planning tools such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject or MS Project
- Good understanding of construction methodologies and site operations
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred
- Full UK driving licence
