Based in our offices in Bristol, a qualified Electrical Services Design Engineer is required to work on a wide range of interesting projects in various sectors including commercial offices & industrial sites, undertaking refurbishments & fit outs as well as new installations, plant replacement and site wide energy strategies, feasibility studies, project monitoring and trouble shooting.
The successful candidate will either be at the upper end of engineer level or has recently reached senior engineer level. The applicants should ideally be qualified with a degree or to a high technical level, preferably Chartered or actively working towards becoming Chartered. For the right candidate, CBRE will be able to offer support for continuing training, education and developing skills.
An electrical design engineer would initially be working alongside an Associate or Director level engineer and would be expected to quickly develop to running their own projects. Our Engineering Consultancy Services division has over 40 engineers of various disciplines working in the UK and is an integral part of CBRE Building Consultancy. We are a supportive and friendly team that prides itself on promoting professionalism, personal development and enjoyable working relationships.
The Midlands & South team currently consists of 3 design engineers dedicated to engineering services design and projects with a further 5 engineers undertaking Technical Due Diligence reporting, Dilapidations and Asset Engineering instructions. It is anticipated that the team will grow and potentially double in size over the next few years. We are engaged in a variety of projects in the Midlands and South region and across the UK as well as undertaking projects in several European countries. Key Responsibilities- Building Services Electrical Services Design
- Competent in CAD / REVIT
- Proficient in design on electrical NES spec systems including sections: LV, Small Power and Data Lighting / Emergency Lighting Life Safety Security/ Access Control/ CCTV BMS Controls UPS/DC Supply Renewables – PV etc Net Zero Design
- Familiar with MV & HV systems design
- Familiar with Dialux, Hevacomp, IES/TAS, Amtec
- Deliver designs from feasibility to completion and handover as part of a collaborative design team.
- Liaise with clients, engineers, contractors, and project teams, attending technical and project meetings.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legislative requirements for electrical systems.
- Prepare electrical calculations, specifications, and technical drawings (e.g., SLDs, P&IDs, cable schedules).
- Conduct technical reviews, quality checks, and on-site inspections of installations and maintenance procedures.
- Produce documentation such as control philosophies, tender scopes, and equipment specifications.
- Oversee design quality processes
- Experience in Technical Due Diligence surveys and reporting would be preferred but not essential
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people of all levels of seniority
- Educated to degree level or high technical qualifications.
- Chartered or actively working towards Chartered Engineer Status
- Diligent and pro-active
- Ability to prioritise and act on own initiative.
- Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- A flexible approach to work with a willingness to travel (UK & Europe) if necessary
