Desirable experience includes:

  • Conducting site visits and preparing site inspection or technical reports
  • Carrying out fire risk assessments (FRAs)
  • Preparing Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEWs) in accordance with PAS 9980
  • Strong understanding of building construction and design, particularly in high-rise residential developments
  • Providing clear, detailed advice on fire safety matters across various building types
  • Attending client and design team meetings to support compliance with Building Regulations, using guidance such as Approved Document B, BS 9999, and BS 9991
  • Supporting clients in meeting their responsibilities under the Building Safety Act and related legislation
  • Experience working in a consultancy environment

Desirable Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Fire Engineering or a related discipline
  • Background in construction (e.g. clerk of works, surveying)
  • Familiarity with PAS 9980 methodology
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation, including drawings, elevations, and design details
  • Working knowledge of the Building Safety Act
  • Understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order

Memberships:

  • Membership of, or working towards membership with, the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or a similar professional body
