Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

• BSc (Hons) or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification
• HCPC Registration

Desirable criteria

• Attendance at specialist short courses relevant to the post e.g Dementia Care, Older People\’s Mental health

Experience

Essential criteria

• Post qualified experience within Older people\’s services
• Working within NHS Older People\’s services
• Application of core OT skills and OT process
• Multidisciplinary team working

Desirable criteria

• Relevant post-qualified OT experience in Mental Health
• Experience of supervising /co-supervising students Involvement in research and clinical audit
• Experience of supervision of students and staff
• Post qualified experience as an OT (or equivalent role) in a health or social care or 3rd sector setting

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

• Understanding of Clinical and environmental risk
• Equality and diversity
• Understanding of team dynamics
• Awareness of need to work within appropriate boundaries
• Principles of clinical governance
• Evidence of post-qualified training in Mental Health
• Group work theory and practice
