Medlock Partners is partnering with a leading law firm based in Leeds City Centre, seeking to hire a Legal Assistant to join their busy and fast-paced commercial property team. The successful candidate will have previous experience working within commercial property, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and a good understanding of SDLT calculations.
Key responsibilities of the Legal Assistant:
- Support the commercial property team with general administration
- Open and close case files
- Handle client enquiries via telephone, email, and post
- Liaise with clients, updating them on sale progression and costs
- Ensure SDLT obligations and land registry requirements are adhered to
- Conduct regular desk reviews of live matters, WIP client balances, and highlight issues
- Develop and maintain internal and external relationships
- Work in accordance with SRA regulations
Key requirements for the Legal Assistant:
- Previous legal assistant experience within commercial property
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work under strict deadlines and adapt to change
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels
- Solid understanding of SDLT calculations and land registry requirements
- High accuracy and attention to detail
