Position: Buyer
Location: Falkirk
Type: Permanent
Salary: £35,000 plus 15% bonus
Company Overview: Established in 1984, our client is a leading turnkey engineering services provider offering end-to-end solutions in design engineering, fabrication, construction, industrial services, and asset integrity.
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage all commercial aspects of assigned suppliers.
- Manage key suppliers across various commodities.
- Drive cost reductions through effective negotiation.
- Manage supplier relationships via a ratings system.
- Conduct supplier reviews, audits, and formal agreements.
- Support all commercial activities within the purchasing environment, including New Product Introductions (NPI).
- Ensure supply chain processes are fit for purpose.
- Handle end-of-month reporting.
- Collaborate with the material controller and support as needed.
Candidate Requirements:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with a supplier-focused approach.
- Strong reporting and negotiation skills.
- Commercial judgment and contract management experience.
- Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of MRP systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of importing materials and parts is a plus.
- Experience working in a purchasing environment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Preferably HNC qualified or working towards it.
