3 Recruit are looking to recruit a Shift Operations Controller to work a back shift in a busy traffic office (hours are generally 13:00-22:00 Monday to Friday with an hours rest). Our client are based in the Minworth area of Birmingham. This role is critical to overseeing and supporting our pallet network and dedicated transport operations during the back shift. You’ll ensure smooth execution, full legal compliance, and performance optimisation within a fast-paced and evolving environment. Ideally with strong Vigo TMS experience, knowledge of transport regulations, and exceptional people and IT skills, you’ll help lead the operational success story.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing back-shift operations, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
- Manage daily route planning using ELogii TMS between 20:00–22:00 for next-day operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to tachograph laws, Working Time Directive (WTD), and legal driver hours.
- Monitor and report on KPIs to maintain high service levels.
- Collaborate with other shifts and departments to maintain seamless operation handovers.
- Liaise with the Compliance Manager to align vehicle maintenance and fleet schedules with operational needs.
- Support all health & safety processes and promote a safe workplace culture.
- Drive continuous improvement and contribute to operational excellence.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a similar role within a palletised network or transport planning environment.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with TMS.
- In-depth knowledge of tachograph rules, WTD, and driver legal hours.
- Solid grasp of transport compliance legislation and H&S regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
- Comfortable working under pressure in a dynamic environment.
