GlobalData is a leading retail analysis and consulting firm in the UK, and we are looking for an analyst to join our Retail team. We have two roles available, one is on a permanent basis and the other is a maternity cover. A passion for retail and an interest in consumer behaviour is essential, with prior research analysis experience desirable. We work with many of the world’s leading retailers, property firms and those in the financial sector to help them maximise success through developing a thorough understanding of the sector and its likely future performance.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop retail expertise – working across a number of areas within the retail sphere. One role will focus on home sectors, including homewares, electricals, DIY & gardening. The other role will cover sectors such as food & grocery and health & beauty as well as producing content on retail occasions such as Christmas and core retail channels including online.
- Working as part of a team, undertake primary research, and produce high quality and accurate analysis.
- Contribute to research reports and data packs for clients.
- Develop thought leadership and provide insight and analysis to journalists.
What we’re looking for:
- Educated to degree level – minimum 2:1 or equivalent, expected or achieved.
- An ability to analyse key issues, threats, and trends across the retail sector.
- An understanding of macro issues, demographic trends, and economic measures and how they impact the retail market and consumer spend.
- Excellent written English.
- Competent in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, as well as excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Commercial acumen and an ability to identify growth opportunities for clients.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and within a team.
- (Desirable) Experience of producing analysis (such as manipulating and analysing data and producing meaningful insight).
