A leading UK contractor in the water sector is seeking an experienced Environment & Sustainability Advisor. This is a permanent opportunity based in Peterborough, with hybrid working options available. The Role

As Environment & Sustainability Advisor, you’ll support major infrastructure projects within a well-established alliance. Reporting to the SHEA Manager, you’ll provide specialist environmental advice, ensure compliance with legislation, and champion sustainable practices across design and delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical environmental support and review project documentation
  • Promote and implement sustainable construction practices
  • Engage with regulators and external stakeholders on environmental matters
  • Contribute to pre-construction planning and risk assessments
  • Monitor changes in environmental legislation and support compliance across teams
  • Manage environmental non-conformances and support internal reviews
  • Represent the organisation in environmental working groups and forums
  • Support alignment with the Alliance Management System (AMS)

About You

  • Degree in an environmental or related discipline
  • Proven experience in environmental management within construction or infrastructure
  • Broad understanding of environmental areas, such as:
  • Contaminated land
  • Waste management
  • Ecology and archaeology
  • Soil testing
  • Carbon and sustainability
  • Social value and statutory nuisance
  • Incident investigation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working in collaborative or framework environments
