Exciting opportunity at a leading airline, Singapore Airlines Ltd. With the next generation of aircraft such as the B777-9 and A350F on the horizon, we are looking for our next Station Engineer in London; a role which will bring many opportunities.
The role involves overseeing the day-to-day engineering operation within London. The candidate will be expected to use their experience and knowledge to work with the Technical Handling Agents (THA) and support the daily operation to ensure it is performed in accordance with the Singapore Airworthiness Requirements. This will include aircraft certification when required. An appropriate Aircraft Engineering B1 License, with relevant type ratings, is essential.
The candidate must also be able to think quickly under pressure, formulate plans, and communicate them to the Engineering Head office, local station staff, and handling agents in a clear and calm manner. This will require a high level of understanding of the English language.
SIA has flights operating in the morning and evening, and the Engineering Department within Singapore will be closely monitoring all aspects of aircraft performance. This role requires a degree of flexibility and being on call 24/7 will be a requirement. There will be a requirement to travel within the UK and Europe to assist with any operational challenges that may arise, sometimes at a moment’s notice. For this, the candidate must be willing to travel and be capable of visa-free travel within Europe.
The opportunities:
- The successful candidate will learn LHR, LGW, MAA, etc. operation, meet key stakeholders, and gain a basic understanding of the key components that make up a successful Line Maintenance Operation.
- Learn the procedures and policies of Singapore Airlines, and how to apply them to ensure everything runs smoothly. This will include generating reports, carrying out investigations, and writing local procedures.
- Manage and monitor the Technical Handling Agent to ensure that they operate safely on schedule and meet SIA’s performance standards.
- Learn about spares and inventory management, and the differences between owned spares, IATP pool spares, and Power by the hours spares (PBTH) including spares logistics and customs clearances.
What We're Looking For:
To be successful in this role, you must hold a valid UK CAA PART-66 B1 Unrestricted License, or EASA PART-66 B1 Unrestricted license or other Foreign AML that is able to be converted into a CAAS SAR-66 License with a rating on at least one of the following aircraft types: B777 B1 type rating is a requirement, or any one of these aircraft types with any of the SIA operated following types: A350 (Trent XWB) B1, A380 (RR Trent 900) B1, B747-400F (PW4000). You must have at least 5 years of experience working in a line maintenance environment and the right to work within the UK. A Dual Nationality with an EU country is advantageous.
