Job Summary: We are currently seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Locum LAS ST3+ level doctor to join the Paediatrics and Neonates team at a large, well-established District General Hospital in Gloucester. This is an excellent opportunity for doctors at ST3 level or above who are looking to enhance their clinical experience within general paediatrics and neonatology. Although this is a non-training post, you will receive a full induction and be allocated an Educational Supervisor. You will work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Neonatal Unit: Provide continuity of medical care for babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and transitional care. Attend high-risk deliveries and undertake neonatal resuscitation. Support Tier 1 doctors with newborn examinations. Participate in the Tier 2 on-call rota for neonates and general paediatrics.
  • General Duties: Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe and effective patient care. Contribute to team decisions and operate within trust policies and procedures. Be involved in departmental teaching and training activities. Demonstrate initiative, flexibility and strong communication within the team and the wider healthcare community. Collaborate across services including NHS and social services in a whole-system approach.

Eligibility Criteria – Essential:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full GMC registration with current licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Evidence of completion of Foundation competencies (UKFPO or equivalent), in line with GMC Good Medical Practice standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe and effective care and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Not previously relinquished, released or removed from a training programme in this specialty except under exceptional circumstances.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Good written and spoken English, demonstrable via: Medical training undertaken in English; or IELTS with minimum scores of 7 in all components in one sitting (within last 24 months); or Equivalent evidence of English language proficiency.
