Excel Industrial is a leading provider of engineering solutions in the public transport sector. We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a dynamic team in Blantyre. This is your chance to take ownership of a well-established depot, leading a skilled team through day-to-day operations while helping shape our future direction.

Your Role

In this leadership role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe running of our engineering workshop and depot infrastructure. With a strong focus on team management, compliance, and operational excellence, you’ll ensure that everything runs smoothly and within budget.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing clear leadership and motivation to engineering staff
  • Managing all workshop activity to maximise vehicle uptime and reliability
  • Ensuring full compliance with safety standards, legislation, and internal policies
  • Overseeing equipment maintenance and depot infrastructure
  • Supporting staff development and upskilling initiatives
  • Driving continuous improvement and cost efficiency through operational insight

What We’re Looking For

You’ll need a strong technical foundation, excellent leadership skills, and a practical understanding of workshop environments. We’re looking for someone who can thrive in a busy, hands-on management role with the vision to improve and innovate.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (e.g. City & Guilds)
  • Strong knowledge of workshop operations and equipment (lifts, jacks, oil systems, tools, etc.)
  • In-depth understanding of health, safety, and vehicle maintenance legislation
  • IT skills, including MS Office and systems like SAP
  • Recognised management or engineering qualification (or willingness to gain one)
  • Full UK driving licence (PCV and forklift licences are advantageous or should be obtainable)
