Why this role?
This is a high-impact leadership position at the heart of a growing engineering org. You’ll start off hands-on (75% IC), leading critical builds across a modern stack, before transitioning into a team leadership role as the team grows (managing 4 engineers by year-end). Expect to influence tech strategy, shape culture, and ship features that impact hundreds of thousands of users each week.
The Role
- Own architecture and delivery across a modular, cross-platform system (Web & Mobile)
- Collaborate daily with Product, Design, Content, and QA to shape what gets built
- Mentor and lead a growing team of engineers, supporting their development and performance
- Work across personalised meal planning, AI-driven tools, content workflows, and partner integrations
Tech Stack
- Frontend: React, Next.js
- Backend: Node.js, TypeScript (some PHP)
- Mobile: Flutter (This isn’t essential)
- Infra: AWS, modular services, automated CI/CD
- Minor CMS (PHP) used for editorial — not central to the role
The Team
You’ll report into the Head of Engineering and lead a tight-knit product team of engineers, PMs, QA, BA, and design — all in-house and collaborative. The team is scaling fast to meet product demand.
