We Build Recruitment are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with Civil Engineering experience on behalf of our client, a long established Civil Engineering company with over 50 years experience. The Senior Project Manager will lead the successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure packages on large-scale data centre or battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This is a key leadership role overseeing all aspects of civil construction—from groundworks and structural elements to utilities and enabling works—in technically demanding environments. The successful candidate will have a proven track record delivering complex infrastructure projects on time and within budget, while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the civils scope across the project lifecycle—from pre-construction to handover.
- Lead and manage site-based civils teams, subcontractors, and external consultants.
- Oversee planning, sequencing, and execution of works, ensuring alignment with project milestones and critical path.
- Ensure all works are delivered safely, in accordance with CDM regulations and HSE standards.
- Coordinate closely with electrical, mechanical, and commissioning teams to avoid conflicts and ensure smooth interfaces.
- Manage budgets, variations, procurement schedules, and contract administration.
- Drive progress reporting, look-aheads, and issue resolution through structured project controls.
- Chair regular progress meetings with stakeholders including clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Maintain clear documentation and ensure compliance with specifications, technical standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure environmental and permitting compliance across all civils activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 8+ years’ experience in a civil engineering / construction management role, with at least 3 years in a senior PM capacity.
- Strong background delivering civils packages on data centres, battery storage facilities, power generation, or other mission-critical infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of groundworks, drainage, concrete structures, access roads, and utility coordination.
