A leading manufacturer and exporter of specialist manufactured products is seeking an experienced Inventory Manager. The business supplies products directly from the UK to multiple international subsidiaries, third-party supply chain partners, and customers across the globe.
The role involves leading and developing the warehouse team across both the production site and associated warehouse facilities. It requires coordinating stock and material logistics to ensure that all necessary resources are available in a timely manner to meet production demands. The position also includes planning warehouse operations and managing material flows to align with overall production schedules. A key objective is to transform the warehouse facilities into a future-ready, world-class operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clear direction and leadership to the warehouse team.
- Develop and implement training and development plans, offering coaching and mentoring where required.
- Carry out all administrative tasks relating to warehouse activities.
- Coordinate deliveries and collections of finished goods with customers and suppliers, ensuring correct documentation and quantities.
- Manage the supply and return of pre-assembly components to and from production.
- Monitor and maintain inventory control processes, conducting regular stock checks and ensuring accurate stock levels.
- Manage waste and recyclable materials, collaborating with production to maintain minimal levels.
- Ensure all lifting equipment is inspected as per regulations and appropriate records are kept.
- Liaise with internal departments and external partners to meet operational objectives.
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring safe and efficient practices.
- Organise local storage and distribution, and manage outbound shipments.
- Work closely with the distribution team to resolve queries and provide flexible support.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure safe and correct packing and loading of goods.
- Represent the warehouse department in meetings and cross-functional projects as required.
Person Specification:
- Minimum 5 yearsβ experience in a warehouse or distribution facility.
- Strong knowledge of stock control systems and inventory management.
- Proven experience in team leadership and staff development.
- Kaizen/Lean Manufacturing qualification.
- Background in manufacturing distribution.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to build and lead a collaborative, high-performing team.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Syspro or SAP.
- Counterbalance forklift licence.
- Manual Handling training.
