The Role
Due to the demand for our products and services, we are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our established team. You will work very closely with the Check Weigher / Repair Manager, offering a full range of engineering services and repairs. Daily duties will include:
- Assembling and building a variety of equipment and bespoke products
- Inspecting, checking, maintaining, and repairing equipment, diagnosing and resolving technical problems, whilst implementing effective solutions
- Calibrating scales, ensuring accurate weighing, using appropriate standards and procedures
- Providing technical support to customers and internal/external stakeholders, answering questions about scale operation and troubleshooting, and offering guidance on best practices
- Maintaining an inventory of spare parts and tools needed for scale maintenance, repair, and ordering parts
- Assisting with the installation of new equipment and conducting demonstrations to showcase their features and capabilities
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, calibrations, and associated documentation
- Attending training and development courses, as required
- Maintaining good housekeeping and complying with all health and safety legislation
- Assisting warehousing in moving machinery, packaging machines, and similar equipment
Your duties may vary according to the changing needs of the company, provided such duties are reasonable given your knowledge, skills, and experience.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience of working as an Engineering Technician in the same or a similar field
- A minimum of level 3 qualification as a mechanical/electrical engineer, within an industrial setting
- A minimum level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering (NVQ, City and Guilds, HND or equivalent)
Skills
- Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues independently and efficiently
- Experience with calibration procedures and standards
- Good team player
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal/external stakeholders, providing excellent support
- Fully conversant with Microsoft applications, Outlook, Word, and Excel
Hours
- 7.30 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. Monday to Thursday
- 7.30 a.m. – 2.15 p.m. Friday
- 45 minutes daily break
