MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with this local government organisation in their search for an Accounts Clerk.

The role:

  • Process Payments: Validate and process supplier invoices, credit notes, and direct debits in line with procedures and deadlines.
  • Maintain Records: Manage supplier data, ledgers, and financial systems, ensuring GDPR compliance.
  • Handle Petty Cash & Month-End: Maintain petty cash and complete month-end reconciliations.
  • Support Stakeholders: Respond to supplier and budget holder payment queries.
  • Ensure Compliance: Support statutory returns, FOI requests, and fraud prevention efforts.
  • Manage Payment Runs: Prepare BACS/cheque payments, remittances, and cancellations.
  • Provide Team Support: Assist departments, cover front desk, and help train new staff.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

  • Dealing effectively with a range of stakeholders;
  • Efficient use of computerised accounting packages; and
  • Effectively processing a large volume of invoices.
