Brook Street Recruitment is working on behalf of our Belfast client who are currently recruiting for a full time and permanent Legal Bookkeeper. Working closely with the Partners of the firm, you will be responsible for assisting with the smooth day-to-day running of a busy solicitor's firm's finance department. Applicants are preferred to have worked in a legal setting but not essential as other bookkeepers will be considered - the ideal candidate will have a good understanding of invoicing, finance, book-keeping.

Duties:

  • Ensuring all finance records are up to date & accurate on the firm's finance system.
  • Reconciling bank statements.
  • Accurate and timely processing and recording of incoming and outgoing payments.
  • Receiving customer payments in person and over the telephone.
  • Liaising with suppliers and payment of supplier invoices.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns via legal accounts software.
  • Checking & posting bills & invoices.
  • Liaising with the firm's accountant to assist in their preparation of statutory returns.

Criteria:

  • Previous experience within a bookkeeping role is essential.
  • Good grasp of basic accounting standards and financial processes.
  • Good communicator with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Competent on Microsoft Office Suite.
