Mad Swans is looking for full-time, part-time and weekend Bar Team Members to join our budding team. You will be the first person to step into these shoes and shape this brand-new role based at our first site: Mad Swans in the Mendips, located in Farrington Gurney near to Bristol & Bath.

What we do:

We are experts in our field, committed to creating boundary-pushing social spaces that spark meaningful connections through play in nature. This summer, we're opening our first countryside hangout for mavericks, offering social play spanning Padel Tennis, Pickleball, Darts, Shuffleboard and Golf. We have teamed up with experts to create two distinct dining experiences: The Potting Shed and The Hangout.

What we can do for you:

We understand that there's more to life than work, which is why our roles are designed to allow exploration. Our team needs to be able to wear a few different hats, allowing you to take considered detours into topics of interest. Out of hours, our guests' playground is yours too, with exclusive rates for staff.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Be familiar with the beverage menu including allergens, ensuring consistent presentation and quality.
  • Set the bar up before service and clean down properly afterwards.
  • Take payments accurately using the Point of Sale system.
  • Ensure a clean and tidy bar area and maintain stock levels throughout service.
  • Assist with stock rotation and ensure accurate labelling and storage of beverages.
  • Work closely with the Bar, Restaurant and Kitchen team members to ensure smooth service.
  • Provide a warm and friendly welcome to all guests.
  • Engage with guests to understand their preferences and make tailored drink recommendations.
  • Handle guest feedback and resolve issues promptly.
  • Build rapport with regular guests, fostering a welcoming and loyal customer base.

Who we're looking for:

  • Experienced or has previous experience in a Restaurant, Café or Bar role.
  • Passionate about delivering excellent guest experience.
  • An excellent communicator.
  • Someone who has an eye for detail.
  • Organised and able to multi-task.
  • Confident, outgoing and well-presented.
  • Happy to be hands-on and assist with day-to-day duties as part of a small team.
  • Self-driven and highly motivated.
  • Proactive, positive and resilient by nature.
  • Comfortable working in a very fast-paced environment.
