We are looking for an experienced Chef de Partie for a permanent opportunity at a Refugee Centre in the Braintree area. The site is looking for a chef de partie with experience in cooking in high volume, catering up to 700, with the potential to expand more.

Role Overview

As Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality meals in a high-volume kitchen. You will help ensure food is cooked safely and efficiently, work collaboratively with the kitchen brigade, and contribute to a supportive and respectful environment for both staff and site residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals for residents according to planned menus and dietary requirements.
  • Oversee a section of the kitchen and ensure it runs smoothly.
  • Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef in daily operations and food preparation.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in accordance with health regulations.
  • Support training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff or volunteers as required.
  • Contribute to the development of culturally appropriate and nutritious menus.
  • Work collaboratively in a team that values empathy, respect, and dignity for all.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role in a professional kitchen.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume catering environment.
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene, kitchen safety, and allergen awareness.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
  • Sensitivity to working in a multicultural, humanitarian setting.

Desirable

  • Experience working in community kitchens, shelters, or emergency response settings.
  • Food hygiene certificate (Level 2 or higher).
