We are looking for an experienced and driven Workshop Manager to lead our busy HGV workshop in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident leader with a strong technical background in heavy goods vehicle maintenance to take ownership of workshop operations, ensuring top-tier service delivery and safety compliance. As Workshop Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing a skilled team of technicians, streamlining workflow, and delivering high standards in vehicle servicing and repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise all workshop staff, driving performance and quality.
  • Manage day-to-day workshop operations, including diagnostics, servicing, and repairs.
  • Ensure all work meets DVSA standards and adheres to health & safety policies.
  • Maximise efficiency, workshop throughput, and technician productivity.
  • Liaise with fleet customers, parts suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Maintain accurate job records and ensure compliance with inspection and maintenance schedules.
  • Carry out regular team briefings, training, and appraisals.
  • Continuously improve workshop systems and cost-efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience managing a commercial vehicle or HGV workshop is essential.
  • Recognised qualifications in HGV maintenance (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
  • Excellent understanding of HGV servicing, compliance, and repair processes.
  • Comfortable using workshop management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK driving licence (an HGV licence is desirable but not essential).
