We are currently recruiting a Key Account Manager (Commercial Lead) to join a business who play a key role in the supply and distribution of essential products into a number of highly regulated sectors globally. This role gives you the opportunity to join the business on the pathway to become the overall General Manager.

About the role: This position combines strategic account management with leadership development responsibilities. The Key Account Manager will be accountable for client engagement, quotation oversight, and sales pipeline development for key customer segments. As the role evolves, the Key Account Manager will also assume broader operational oversight as the successor to the current General Manager.
Some of the key responsibilities:
- Act as the commercial lead for key customer segments.
- Manage and mentor the order desk/customer service team to deliver high service levels and meet SLAs.
- Own the commercial performance and client engagement for top-tier accounts, proactively developing business opportunities and account plans.
- Analyse client behaviour and develop account strategies to enhance satisfaction and retention.
- Drive pipeline forecasting, proposal generation, and commercial reporting.
- Ensure interdepartmental alignment to fulfil client expectations in pricing, stock availability, and lead time.
- Support operational decision-making in partnership with the Site General Manager and fulfilment leadership.
- Progressively assume responsibility for site operations, staff leadership, and reporting as part of succession planning for the Site General Manager.
What we are looking for? The ideal candidate will combine commercial strength with operational leadership capabilities, with a proven track record in account management, client relationship building, and team leadership. This dual-role path offers an opportunity for significant career development, with the current Site GM set to retire. The successful candidate for this role will need to demonstrate the following:
- 5+ years in Account Management, Sales, or Business Development roles.
- Experience working with B2B clients in regulated sectors.
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive operational change or improvement.
- ERP and CRM system proficiency; Microsoft Dynamics or similar preferred.
- Commercially astute with strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
- Structured, proactive, and solutions-driven.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical/reporting ability.
- Strong leadership presence and the ability to develop into a site-level managerial role.
