Hill McGlynn Recruitment is proud to be representing a highly regarded regional main contractor based near Chelmsford, with a strong and diverse pipeline of projects across residential, fit-out, care home, and prison sectors. As part of their continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute and delivery-focused QS to take ownership of multiple projects and play a key role in the business's ongoing success.

The Role:

  • Managing the commercial aspects of projects from inception to final account.
  • Preparing and managing cost plans, budgets, and valuations.
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and variations.
  • Liaising with site teams, clients, and consultants to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Reporting to a Commercial Manager or Director depending on project size.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a main contracting environment.
  • Solid background working on new build or refurbishment projects in residential, fit-out, care or custodial sectors.
  • Strong contractual knowledge (JCT/D&B).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
