I'm working with a very exciting consultancy that's expanding its Digital Buildings team. They're seeking a Digital Building Consultant with a solid background in smart buildings, BMS/BEMS, and system integration.
The role involves working closely with clients to define smart building strategies, create design specifications, manage vendor selection, and oversee site integration through to project completion. The role spans early-stage design through to commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities- Define and document smart building strategies and objectives
- Develop technical design briefs and specifications
- Create and manage RFPs, evaluate bids, and support vendor onboarding
- Coordinate with MEP, IT, AV, FM and construction teams
- Oversee integration, commissioning, and performance validation
- Review system compliance, cybersecurity, and operational readiness
- Prepare O&M manuals, as-builts, and training material
- Stay current with emerging tech and smart building trends
- 5-8 years' experience in BMS, smart buildings, or systems integration
- Deep knowledge of protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, MQTT
- Experience working in construction/commissioning environments
- Strong documentation/specification writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (SharePoint, Teams)
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Someone who takes full ownership of delivery, is adaptable, technically strong, and enjoys working across cross-functional teams to ensure outcomes match expectations and design intent.
