What this role is all about:

As a new generation insurer disrupting the insure-tech market, our Actuaries and Actuarial Students are key analytical experts. They use their mathematical skills to assess risk, set fair premiums, design products, and support financial planning—ensuring Vitality remains both innovative and financially stable.

As an Actuarial Manager within the Life Reinsurance department at Vitality Life, you will play a critical role in the management of reinsurance arrangements, including ensuring the reinsurance arrangements are supporting the strategic business objectives and are implemented and administered effectively.

Key Actions

Reinsurance Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain accuracy of retention and reassured premium calculations in line with treaty terms.
  • Support the reinsurance data team in applying treaty provisions and updating calculations as needed.
  • Provide experience data to reinsurers and respond to queries related to claims, underwriting, and account data.
  • Liaise with internal teams (product, pricing, underwriting, claims, etc.) and reinsurers to align on business priorities and share relevant information.
  • Assist with treaty and addendum reviews, and assess financial impacts of changes to reinsurance structures or rates.

Actuarial Control Cycle

  • Data Management: Source, define, and analyse data from various sources. Develop and manage complex actuarial processes.
  • Modelling: Build and enhance models, define assumptions, assess risks, and maintain clear documentation.
  • Reporting: Validate results, monitor outcomes, and provide insights to support business decisions.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and manage relationships.
  • Translate technical content into clear, actionable insights.
  • Handle complex queries and support informed decision-making.

  • Demonstrate expertise in actuarial work and the insurance industry.
