The project: An exciting opportunity to join the cost management team working in the private commercial sector delivering projects for our global corporate real estate clients. The role will involve advising these clients across the full range of cost management services from feasibility budget advice, through design development cost planning, procurement and tendering and post contract delivery. Utilising expertise and applies the value management techniques at the outset of a project. Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan. Contributing to the procurement process, ensuring that all stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively. Supervising the preparation of the contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses and assist formal execution by the appropriate parties. Advising on administration of the terms of the building contract. Accountable for the measurement of valuations of the work carried out and ensuring that cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively. Ensuring adequate cost control and reporting services during the contract and the production of monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client. Identifies all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges. Overseeing and engaging in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors/suppliers. Advising on the issue of certificates of practical completion and ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed. Providing comprehensive advice on the issuing of certificate of making good defects and final completion in accordance with any requirements relating to completion, submissions and approvals. Managing team of cost consultants, providing guidance, direction and coaching and performance management. Delivering improvements in systems and processes, driving transformational change.Providing mentoring/training to members of the team. Sharing technical/functional/domain expertise to upskill capabilities. Developing and maintains a series of both internal and external relationships.Managing and influencing key/senior stakeholders. Identifying and implementing continuous improvement plans/identifies key business improvements. Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work. You’ll need to have:Demonstrable experience of delivering service excellence to clients.Proven experience cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels.Sound understanding of costs and timescales of work undertaken and implications of risk of failure to deliver.Proven experience of different types of contracts including the method of measurement.Negotiation skills.Analytical skills.Digitally competent.A degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).Professional membership i.e. MRICS/RICS (or equivalent).Detailed knowledge of most forms of contract/contract law. Proficient knowledge and expertise in specific sector/market of project/role. Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on contract administration and contract management. Capex V Opex cost analysis/advice. Comprehensive understanding of present-day issues such as sustainability, social value and carbon reduction.Expert knowledge of industry best practice.You’ll also have:Ability to be effective communicator with all stakeholders.Ability to seek opportunities for implementing improved working practices.Manages relevant stakeholders for project/s.Develops effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Good interpersonal skills to prepare reports, negotiate and build relationships with key stakeholders.Problem solving and analytical skills for resolving cost and contract administration and procurement issues within consult.Sharing key information and learning generated with colleagues.
