Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Piping Engineer for a short term contract approx 4-6 weeks and will be on a PSC basis working outside IR35. Experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry is essential.
Responsibilities
- Contributing to the delivery of Engineering excellence through executing assigned scopes of work.
- Supporting and supervising task delegation to team.
- Providing discipline expertise to the business.
- Coaching and mentoring as delegated.
- Manage and supervise direct reports.
- Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Participate in audits and incident investigations as required.
- Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
- Provide discipline support to the business.
- Check and approve piping design documentation.
- Check and approve piping engineering documentation.
- Approval of PED technical files.
- Utilise BP standards for pipework design and procurement.
- Selection of piping materials for specific applications.
- Specification of piping materials, manual valves, pipe fittings and flanges.
- Completion of technical evaluations on piping materials and fittings.
- Review and approval of vendor documentation and certification.
- Review of PDMS/E3D model for piping and plant layout.
- Review of PDMS/E3D model for clash checking.
- Review of dimensional control survey data for clash checking.
- Review of cloud scan survey data for clash checking.
- Provide technical expertise.
Qualifications
- MSc, MEng or equivalent professional qualification or BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience.
- Chartered Engineer or recognised equivalent.
- Competent in own discipline to provide support to the business.
- Demonstrate current knowledge with industry and technology development within discipline.
- Communication in written and spoken forms.
- Participate in audit and incident investigations as required.
