We are looking for a skilled Technical IT Project Manager to lead our ambitious IT modernisation program, focusing on migrating critical infrastructure and applications from on-premise environments to AWS Cloud-native infrastructure and platforms. The ideal candidate will possess both a solid technical background and strong project management experience, with the ability to oversee and deliver complex IT transformation initiatives. This role will involve close collaboration with our Solution Architect to ensure seamless integration and networking between systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management
    • Lead IT Infrastructure and Application Migration: Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle for the migration of on-premises infrastructure and applications to AWS Cloud.
    • Apply agile project management methodologies to ensure iterative progress, adaptability, and collaboration across teams.
    • Utilize project management tools such as Jira and Confluence for efficient project tracking, reporting, and team coordination.
    • Implement ITIL-based service management practices to ensure quality and alignment with operational objectives.
  • Technical Oversight and Collaboration
    • Oversee technical aspects of migration projects, ensuring adherence to cloud migration patterns based on the 7 Rs framework (Retire, Retain, Rehost, Replatform, Repurchase, Refactor, and Relocate).
    • Work closely with the Solution Architect to oversee critical networking and connectivity aspects of the migration, including DNS, SSL/TLS Certificates, Cross Connect, Direct Connect, IPSec VPN, and general network architecture.
    • Ensure proper implementation of connectivity solutions such as Direct Connect and Cross Connect for seamless cloud integration, collaborating with the Solution Architect on design and troubleshooting.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Act as the key liaison between technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and sprint planning sessions to ensure alignment and progress toward project goals.
    • Maintain clear communication with senior leadership, providing updates on project milestones, risks, and budget.
  • Risk and Issue Management
    • Identify, track, and resolve risks, dependencies, and issues throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
    • Develop and maintain risk registers and mitigation plans.
  • Resource and Budget Planning
    • Coordinate resources effectively to meet project deadlines while optimizing costs.
    • Oversee project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial constraints and delivering value for the organization.

Key Qualifications/Skills:

  • Technical Expertise
    • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure (networks, servers, databases) and cloud technologies, specifically AWS.
    • Experience with on-prem to cloud migration is a must.
    • Familiarity with cloud-native services such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, VPCs, and security protocols.
    • Networking Knowledge: Familiarity with DNS, SSL/TLS Certificates, Cross Connect, Direct Connect, IPSec VPN, and general connectivity architecture, with hands-on experience working in conjunction with the Solution Architect to implement these solutions.
  • Project Management
    • Proven experience leading large-scale IT projects, preferably with certifications like PMP, PRINCE2, Certified Scrum Master, or ITIL Foundation.
    • Expertise in agile methodologies and tools, including Jira and Confluence.
    • Strong familiarity with ITIL principles and their application in IT service management.
  • Problem Solving and Communication
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in collaboration with engineering teams and solution architects.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DevOps culture and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of modern application delivery (microservices, containerization).
  • Experience working in the aviation industry (e.g., airlines and airport operations).

Location: Hybrid. Office located in London. (Hayes area). Office presence required: Yes. Frequency: 2-3 times a week at the office.
