The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.
This role will lead the P&L optimisation of Currys' embedded credit portfolio, ensuring we strike the right balance between lending growth and profitability. You will be the business expert on the risk vs. reward trade-offs that underpin credit decisions - spanning accept rate, pricing, product mix, credit risk, and supplier funding. Your work will guide how we structure credit offers, target customer groups, shape pricing and subsidy strategies, and respond to macroeconomic variables. You will develop a strong partnership with the wider business and our lending partner to ensure credit is fully optimized in the context of the wider business strategy. You will build the analytical engine and storytelling frameworks that help us understand performance, drive better decisions, and plan with confidence.
Role overview:
- Lead Portfolio Optimisation Across Key Risk/Reward Levers
- Develop clear and actionable analysis across the core credit profit levers:
- Accept rate and customer quality
- Product and promotional mix
- Pricing and subsidy strategy
- Credit risk appetite
- Supplier funding dynamics
- Create frameworks to evaluate and rebalance the portfolio in response to commercial opportunities, economic conditions, and performance trends.
- Work in partnership with lending partner(s) to ensure alignment and optimisation.
- Define and maintain profitability segmentation across:
- Sales channels (online, store, app)
- Product categories
- Customer types (new vs. repeat, engaged vs. dormant)
- Provide robust analysis to support Quarterly Business Reviews, helping shape:
- APR and promotional pricing strategies
- Supplier funding asks and negotiations
- Portfolio-level decisions around credit limit increases, engagement strategies, and interest-bearing mix.
- Build and embed a monthly credit portfolio pack that:
- Tracks optimisation against growth and profitability goals
- Identifies shifting dynamics in portfolio health
- Highlights actions across risk, pricing, mix, or supplier funding to improve returns.
- Lead development of a credit portfolio forecast that reflects:
- Lending growth
- Revenue generation (interest, fees, subsidy)
- Credit losses and risk exposure
- Macro drivers like interest rates or inflation.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven track record in credit portfolio management, analytics, commercial finance or pricing.
- Expertise in credit risk or embedded finance and understanding of how credit pricing, risk appetite, and promotions drive performance.
- Strategic mindset with strong attention to detail - able to zoom out to business trade-offs and zoom in on modelling accuracy.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills - able to influence decisions and simplify complexity.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI/Tableau (SAS or similar a bonus).
- Comfort working across Finance, Risk, Commercial and Data teams.
