NEOS Engineering are partnered with a leading, fast-growing independent company operating across multiple depots across the UK. Following continued expansion, they are now looking to appoint a Hire Controller to join their busy and successful depot in Pontypridd.
The Role
As a Hire Controller, you’ll play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the hire desk. You’ll be the first point of contact for inbound enquiries, responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing hire contracts, and supporting internal coordination with the transport, credit, and operations teams. You’ll also be tasked with growing customer accounts, managing job bookings, and ensuring smooth and accurate processing of orders from initial enquiry through to delivery and collection.
Responsibilities include:
- Responding to incoming customer calls and sales enquiries
- Building long-term relationships with clients and upselling where possible
- Processing hire contracts accurately and efficiently
- Coordinating delivery and collection of equipment in line with customer requirements
- Working closely with transport, warehouse and credit control teams
- Handling customer queries, quotes and job confirmations
- Maintaining system records and ensuring data accuracy
- Supporting the depot team with general administration and ad hoc duties
The Candidate
You’ll have experience working in a fast-paced hire desk, sales support, or customer service role. A background in tool or plant hire is desirable but not essential—what’s most important is your ability to communicate well, stay organised, and deliver excellent service under pressure.
Key skills & competencies include:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good IT literacy and ability to learn internal systems (Syrinx knowledge beneficial)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
- Customer-focused with a professional and proactive approach
- Sales-minded and commercially aware
- Experience in hire, construction, or logistics preferred
The Benefits
£26,000 – £27,500 DOE Bonus and Loyalty Scheme 28 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays) Company pension scheme Full-time, permanent position – Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 4:00pm OR 7:30am to 5:00pm
