Our client, a membership body, are recruiting for a Principal Web Platform Architect. The role will be looking for someone to provide senior-level technical guidance to development teams (internal and external), review DevOps activities, work with product managers and business stakeholders and mentor developers through architecture coaching, code walkthroughs, and documentation.
This is a senior, hands-on technical role responsible for setting the engineering direction and leading the architecture of all web-based platforms across the Group. The role focuses on designing, developing, and optimising scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications using modern full-stack technologies. It requires deep expertise in front-end and back-end development, DevOps, cloud platforms, and web security. The architect will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers, providing technical leadership, mentoring, and ensuring alignment with strategic digital goals. This is an individual contributor role with no direct line management but significant influence over technical decisions and standards.
Key Technical Skills- Front-End Development: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, React (including Next.js)
- Back-End Development: .NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, Node.js, C#
- Database Management: SQL Server, with additional experience in NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
- Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP (including edge compute, serverless functions, S3)
- DevOps & CI/CD: Azure DevOps, automated pipelines, infrastructure as code
- Security: CSPs, secure cookies, XSS/CSRF mitigation, OAuth2, SSO, SAML, encryption
- SEO & Performance: Core Web Vitals, metadata structuring, sitemap configuration, crawl budget
- API Design: RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, GraphQL
- CMS: Experience with various CMS platforms; headless CMS integration (e.g., Contentful, Sanity, Strapi)
- Testing: Automated testing (Jest, Mocha, Selenium), TDD, BDD, integration and load testing
- Observability: Logging, tracing, monitoring tools (e.g., Sentry, Datadog, New Relic)
- System Architecture: Designing scalable, secure, and maintainable web architectures
